Re: scie Would the intention be to keep the
scie-pants
centric stuff in the
nce
cache folder, and the lmdb_store + named_caches stay where they are in the
.cache/pants
folder?
e
Yes.

If there is some compelling reason
~/. cache/pants/setup
needs to stay there instead of in the
nce
cache I'd like to know so I can grapple with the use case. Otherwise it would be great to stay under the purview of the
nce
locking guarantees.
The only reason I know of is covered by https://github.com/pantsbuild/scie-pants/issues/31

🤷 I'm just playing around with the latest release, re-naming, using relative vs absolute and seeing what happens. Noted that scie vs bash script both download stuff, and was just confirming where everything would end up
e
Gotcha - great.

Since my pants instance is global now, I'm testing new bash completions that call
pants help
on each tab - since the completion context will be for the folder you're in, which was one of the existing sticking points
e
Aha, right. Yeah, using Pants in subdirs is not the way I work, but I know alot of folks love that.
w
Not my style either, but 🤷 - whatever people want to do.

Thanks for hammering on it!
