@happy-kitchen-89482 I've been looking a bit more on the CI issues to build wheels, but I don't get it. The other jobs that run on ARM64 linux works, it's only the wheel build job that fails, on the checkout code step, but I don't see any difference compared with the other jobs where this works, so I'm stumped. Re-running one of the passing jobs, still pass, while re-running the failed job still fails. 🤷

Is this the glibc issue?

We just got this email from the Works on ARM folks:
Hello Benjy,

Hope you are doing well!

I am reaching out with an update regarding your server usage with our Works on Arm initiative. We are coming up towards lifecycle limits for the physical servers hosted and need to make changes to the infrastructure. As a part of this change, we would need to remove the access we’ve provided to you. All of this shall be done in a month’s timeframe ( latest by August 10th, 2024).

We value your time building projects on Arm and encourage you to leverage the cloud offerings (including free tier offerings) for Arm based VMs that you can leverage for your future builds. You can directly request access to these offerings that are listed on our <http://worksonarm.com|worksonarm.com> website.

Regards,

Shipra Snehi

So the universe really doesn't want us building on ARM 😠

GitHub now has hosted arm runners… but I think they’re not free.

Just a quick update on this. It seems more involved than I have bandwidth to work on at the moment (also going into vacation), and as it seems to be blocking making releases it may be worth prioritizing finding someone willing to take this on soonish.

hello! i have been very busy trying to get ready for a feature freeze at work, and so have been a terrible MOTW this week. this looks like something that i should be looking at. 😬
commented on https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/21133#issuecomment-2226473129 ... i will remain really busy through the weekend, so i can't promise anything, unfortunately. if anyone else has time to look at it, it would be appreciated. but i will try.

I've submitted a request for ARM github runners from the same program: https://github.com/WorksOnArm/GitHub-Runners/issues/3
This would be instead of the raw hardware
Which is better for us anyway, I would rather not be maintaining the runners
