as a linter in https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/18593 This comes with some challenges (multi-language, for one). I've tried to explain the challenges I see, propose a solution, and ask some questions to try to stop me going down a nonsense path for future experimentation. Could someone take a look? Thanks!
