Hi all! I'm Tyler, a machine learning engineer / data scientist / cloud solutions architect. My team basically builds the solutions to handle ingesting, transforming, managing, and exporting large amounts of data. I heard about pants build from one of the python podcasts I listen to (probably Talk Python to Me or Python Bytes?) and the whole idea of Pants being the glue for the myriad of tools that we use to do our work (linters, formatters, poetry for venv, dependency, packaging management, docker for / k8s/ helm for CI builds, security scanners, testing, etc) was exactly the type of thing we desperately need but I didn't know there was a solution for. I'm currently on PTO and playing around with Pants to kick the tires and build a proof of concept for how we might be able to use it. So far very very cool and exiting stuff. It's actually led me to solidifying my understanding of tools we use in ways I wasn't expecting. For example through things not quite working, me learning why they weren't working, realizing I didn't understand the tool as well as I thought I did. Pants is already a huge plus, and we definitely will be looking to use it moving forward as soon as I work out the "last mile" details. I've actually got a few questions pending already, but want to collect my thoughts a bit more / create a minimal reproducible example before reaching out. Glad to be here and even if I don't post often for a while I'm reading and learning 🙂

Nice! What tools did it help you better understand, and what did you learn? I feel a blog post coming on...
