Thanks @busy-vase-39202 I'm working as a bioinformatician / research software engineer at the University of Melbourne's Centre for Cancer Research in Australia. I'm looking into pants / PyOxidizer as a way that I can still use python and easily deploy tools to colleagues / collaborators without needing to worry about niche compatibility errors.

Re easy, self-contained deploys, @enough-analyst-54434 is working on a new format for this, that is easier to use and more generalized than pyoxidizer (and more guaranteed to work even in weird corner cases), and I believe @wide-midnight-78598 is looking into Pants support for this format.
