i could look into e.g. brotli or zstd and other newer compression formats, which would require adding support in pants to unzip those but that won't be too hard, probably (if they can in fact get the file size down enough). however, i was also thinking about whether we should instead refactor the way we provide binary tools to avoid going through github at all. where should i start looking to change if i wanted to investigate that?
