@rough-minister-58256: would https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/5952 have changed anything in the case where two pants calls are run simultaneously and both try to launch the daemon? got a report that it's currently possible (although https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/5877 should now cause one of the copies to die). if not, i'll open something
