and the v2 engine happens to be exactly such an API for interfacing with the real world in a structured way so that was a really cool parallel which is why i was hype about it. lots more to do right now but as we're also thinking about e.g. using starlark to parse BUILD files and i'm personally thinking of using pants to implement the bazel build api, considering different modes of execution for all these great ideas and architectures that exist in pants continues to be a really interesting and fruitful line of thought i think
