the only reason wasm might be neat is if we use the api mentioned above to interface with intrinsics — but i personally would probably want to allow for the same kind of flexibility we have with python rules which at that point seems like we would have to implement a layer on top of whatever api anyway to allow for arbitrary product requests so might as well just figure out how we want to dynamically load rust modules or something
