also fwiw, i very politely pointed oscar to the v2 engine when he said he was first flirting with making a build system. so when i see his approach in this thread and see some discussion of typed results, i see: (1) a HUGE advantage we have in writing pants rules over bazel rules, one that could be stated more (pants rules are typed) (2) that even if he doesn't want to oscar will probably steal at least some things from pants and that will be nice conversation next time we meet
