i don’t see anything else bound for 2.6.x today: i can cut a new rc?

I was hoping to cherry-pick https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/12495 and https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/12506 Neither are "bug fixes", but are low-ish risk enhancements I think would be nice to have

as mentioned elsewhere, i’m not in favor of 12495, sorry. it adds complexity to work around a performance bug that there are solutions to. fine with waiting on 12506 though

if it isn't too late, I would love to add https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/12510 to 2.6 Technically a new feature, but low risk and will be super helpful to me helping a friend migrate to Pants 🤘
