oh yeah...I haven't had a chance to investigate it yet, but it's on my TODO for today

since it primarily affects plugin developers, i’m not sure that we need to wait for it. but we can certainly backport it once it’s resolved

no changes from me for 2.9

Unclear if it's only plugin developers - might impact actual normal MyPy users. Last time I tried to fix it meant fixing a general bug with python_distribution

triaging whether it affects non-plugin developers would be worthwhile probably

Confirmed that the wheel properly includes the

.pyi

file - I think it might be a nuance of https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0561/ when you have a

.pyi

file in a directory that mostly uses inline files, but I need to experiment imo we don't need to block the release

we had another cherry-pick come in for 2.9.x… i’ll probably wait until end of day to cut another rc, so maybe final+blog on Monday instead.
