# development

FYI: folks are starting to ask technical questions more in #welcome And it's totally fine both for them to ask it there, and for anyone to answer there. However note that since there are a lot more people in #general vs #welcome, gently steering folks into picking up the question over in #general has the benefit of exposing the conversation/answer to more readers...

I was debating doing that. I can reach out privately 🙂
Which doubles as a personal hello 😛

Nice! Though fwiw, I'm not referring to one thread. It's been a recent emerging trend, and again not a problem. Just want to raise awareness that given there are 3 times as many members of #general it's a way to avoid answering a question multiple times. If that's not a concern for someone, no worries about answering in #welcome. It's worth prioritizing a principle of not greeting people at the door with "You ask questions wrong! Go away!". So any steering should be done with an extra measure of compassion for how awkward it can be to be a newbie trying to read a room.
