Basically though, the lock should work. If it doesn't, I'd need some more detail about how and why it doesn't. It's also worth noting that we've long wanted to convert pants to use a separate resolution directory for ivy than the cache directory, as Ivy allows you to configure. But it would mean pants would need to codegen the ivysettings.xml for all runs, which requires a fair amount of design and effort
