I am wholly taken by rock climbing, this has been the case since the age of 16. Very narrow and single track. "The Jewel Cave Adventure" though, caught my attention. A story of two climbing legends road tripping out west who stopped in the Black Hills and took a rest day caving with a friend and never looked back. So... They coined VARD, VARP and VAMP: victory after reduction diet (a tight squeeze in the cave system), victory after ... can't remember that one ... and victory after mud plowing. Don't fix bugs, define them away via (e)VADE: Victory after doc edit

Aha, ok. Victory after rock pounding.

I think Herb and Jan would approve.

There's a little Via Ferrata route in a building in the next town over I tried. Wasn't challenging but for someone who normally does indoors rock climbing/bouldering it was a neat change of pace.

There is fun to be had at Enchanted Rock! Not sure if you've adventured there, but the nature of the formations allows you to pick your comfort level between hike and full on (small) solo.

Oh yeah, I've been there a few times. Notably journeys included: • running the entire route from base to summit (was trying to impress my friends) • scaling the backside since they closed it due to slippery trails. Probably was a no-no but by the time we made it to the summit they had opened the trails, so šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

There you go. Next stop Hueco, but that's a heck of a drive from the east side.
