I want to cut 2.30.0a0 today, I see that we still haven't updated the release notes with any reference to it being the last version to support macos on x86. However now that we have a self-hosted runner we can kick that can a little further down the road. So I think we can make it the last version to support macos 13 or 14 on x86, and require macos 15 in the future? That will be the last macos version to run on x86, and github will have runners for it for another couple of years, so there is a natural EOL there.

There are release notes in an approved PR. May as well hint at the wind-down plan?
