A follow up question for you experienced folk.... when working with a monorepo with multiple projects, sometimes with conflicting dependencies (I guess resolves), inside an IDE like vscode, do you work on one project at a time (or rather one environment at a time), or do you treat the IDE as an editor and do everything with pants on the terminal? Do you take advantage of IDE features like running tests, debugging, etc? And do you use tools like poetry add or uv add to add dependencies to your (sub) projects?

I generally use git-worktree to have ~3 copies of the mono-repo checked out at any time. I do use the terminal within VSCode to run pants.
multiple projects, sometimes with conflicting dependencies (I guess resolves),
the vast majority of our codebase is on a single resolve. We have a small part that's on a different resolve that's still based on python 3.11. In our case, I can put the site-package for both resolves on the PYTHONPATH and it just works. May be lucky in our case that we can do that, though.
Do you take advantage of IDE features like running tests, debugging, etc?
yeah, although I could do better with debugging. there is
--debug-adapter
which I have only started using.
do you use tools like poetry add or uv
No we're using requirements.txt and
pants generate-lockfiles
... It's pretty infrequent, though, after an initial push.
