Is it possible to disable the progress output of the pants library downloading the python-standalone resources?

That might be sent as INFO level? Maybe set your logger to warning?
h
I'll try, but I think this is at the pre-pants level, when the launcher is still obtaining the pants dependencies.
It's the same with
-lwarning
w
Oh yeah, I didn't even notice that was coming from scie_pants
I don't recall all the configuration offhand - I'd recommend looking into scie-pants, and the underlying scie formats to see what can be configured from the environment
Without looking into it much, as I'm mid-call-by-name work - I think this is the call you want to remove? https://github.com/a-scie/ptex/blob/9b37b9c8708b62e589d72ec4f36e7a04a6fc12a9/src/main.rs#L47

@wide-midnight-78598, well, not remove per-se, but in non-interactive context I don't think it's helpful. So maybe scan for the CI env var, or the terminal type?
w
John put a PR in to silence downloading, but there will still be work needed in scie-pants - but any reason not to pipe the offending data to stderr? Have you tried that out?
h
Well, it's part of the primary
pants test ::
call and I don't want to hide the application relevant info.
Alternatively, I'd have to
pants --version 2> /dev/null
first.
Naturally, that'd also hide real errors.
