The 2.22.x branch is a bit stuck: it's hard to do any releases because it refers to too-old versions of actions, and it's quite awkward to upgrade them. See https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/21741 for info. There's only one user-facing cherrypick on the 2.22.x branch, since 2.22.1 was released (https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/21617). Any objection to cutting off 2.22.x without any further releases? That is, 2.22.1 is the last release and we close the milestone and branch as is.
