Hey all, I'm Kerem, an ML researcher/engineer/backend engineer at a small startup. I set up our product codebase at my company and we're using Pantsbuild for our mostly Python-based product & research codebases. So far it's been a great tool to bootstrap our python distribution and docker build story and supporting cross platform compatibility across personal devices and the cloud. We do occasionally hit limits (eg we haven't figured out a way to publish our docker images to a private google cloud registry using
pants publish
so we still do that manually via
docker push
on an otherwise authenticated machine). Also we have not yet moved the typescript part of our codebase to pants as support seems minimal, but the possibility of unifying builds is very enticing for the future. Pretty busy these days, but I might drop by and share information about snags we run into and ask for help occasionally. Hopefully when we have a bigger backend team we can contribute fixes back up to the project. Thank you for all your hard work building Pantsbuild!

Hi, I'm also exploring TS with Pants right now (in a personal project, not for work). I'm fairly new to TS (and Node) though so I'm still stumbling over my own lack of understanding sometimes. It seems though like the current experimental TS backends are still at a stage where I'm hitting limits quite early, so I find myself using
adhoc_tool
for the TS compilation (essentially this calls
npx tsc
). It's not perfect but it works.
