Thanks @gorgeous-winter-99296, and welcome everyone else! I'm an engineer at https://www.roboto.ai/, before that I worked on both web services & embedded systems @ Amazon for about a decade. I've never worked full time on a build tools team, but by happenstance have ended up being the point person on build tools for nearly every team I've been on. The Roboto codebase is a monorepo consisting of a frontend directory (w/ separate build toolchain) + ~20 backend python "packages", which are either a distributable module, a private utility module, or a module with top-level application code for an AWS Lambda zip. Our initial build system was a somewhat brittle nest of Makefiles, and last week I decided to port everything over to Pants after hearing positive testimonials from industry contacts. The tipping point was that I had a day where I spent more time waiting for unnecessary 10-minute full rebuilds than I thought it would take to move to a system with better partial build caching/memoization strategy, so I decided to just rip the band-aid off. So far it has been absolutely worth it; I've already seen massive improvements to build time and debug/iterate flywheel speed, which is huge in a small company where developer time is spread thin.

Hi All, I work on https://www.nativelink.com/ / https://app.nativelink.com/ and have recently updated our quick start to include pants for remote caching (speed up builds with free caching!).. I used to work at Twitter ~9yrs and well versed with pants generally speaking. Spent the last 2.5 years of Twitter working on the build systems/monorepo/scala toolchain support for both pants and bazel. Excited to see pants support from the outside. Please try out nativelink and let us know what you think!

Thanks @gorgeous-winter-99296, and Hello everyone else! I came across pants while exploring the deployment section of www.fullstackpython.com for a small project that I'm building for my portfolio. Apart from this I have just graduated and exploring open-source softwares looking to contribute to them especially that are written in python, golang and rust.
