I've merged the

2.22.0a0

release (CI working now), which includes creating the

2.22.x

branch and milestone. New work landing on

main

will now be for 2.23, so release notes should be swapped over to the file being added in https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/21010 (if someone has a moment to review, that'd be cool)
