I kinda saw this coming by the lack of updates over the past year, it was great for a while - but "better" Python packaging systems came along. There were a few rough edges as well (not to mention the time it takes to package). I've been happily using scies when I need to package a python interpreter... When I first read your note, I was concerned the python-build-standalone was going bye bye and that was a bit of a mild shock, but no, that seems to be fine. Probably worth adding a deprecation note on the pyoxidizer backend: https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/issues/20771
