So I'll admit this wasn't quite in the spirit of the bug squash because it was the bug I tripped over today, but I'd appreciate some guidance on https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/issues/19514 (some) code options are straightforward, but less sure of the right path forward or the breaking behavior policy to get there.
