You might hold off. I'll update the PR, but - although the technique there is robust for pex the tool and bdist_pex, it is evil when pex is used as a library. I realized this late after prompting from a similar twitter.util evil. I think they did theirs unknowingly, but I have full knowledge and so can't do the same!
