pex is designed to be as ‘hermetically sealed’ as possible. so for repeatability, we’d prefer that you explicitly declare the dep on pytest and let pex package that up each time as an explicit dependency vs relying on implicit dependencies in the python environment (which can be mutated or different from machine to machine).
