@strong-crayon-70379 just posted https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/6201 which fixes a bug where we don't set the platform for dists with native code that we compile and link separately, which is a little bit of a showstopper for that feature so i'm thinking i can work with him to get that working, figure out #6179, then release rc1
