python_dist()

use

which could be covering up some very bad nonsense, regardless, they should all work without

clean-all

, and if they don't, something very wrong has happened. i'm seeing if adding a

clean-all

to the one test that didn't have it (which was the one failing) will stop this error, and if so, will investigate much deeper, but will get the fix in
