i'm going to push up another branch to pantsbuild/pants which is just

cosmicexplorer/pantsd-runner-logging-fixes-for-1.9.x

rebased off of the

1.10.x

branch instead. both of these will be deleted once it can be ascertained whether the fix works (and some kind of testing because i don't wanna have to worry about this again)
