For what it’s worth, I think the only two considerations we had in landing now vs. later was 1) so that we can get to dropping Python 2, and 2) whether we include pantsd forking I no longer care about 1. It sounds like we are not blocked by 1.17.0.dev0 happening anymore to drop Py2, but by Twitter finishing porting its plugins, which they are close to doing. So until Twitter finishes that work, I’m no longer advocating a faster cadence to get us to 1.17.0.dev0 sooner
