@witty-crayon-22786: 4sq is seeing compile failures on a jvm example project. I git bisected it to: https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/commit/a31e175730dad9b6694204b4de7fbb9906542cbb. I had opened an issue four days after that commit landed with the same core problem. I reopened it: https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/issues/2597. I don't think this test is exercised anywhere or else patrick's releases would fail. Do you repro?
