@limited-country-20626: apologies for my confusion: you did the right thing according to the current docs, and i was mostly just confused because i'd gotten it into my head that there would be a 1.0.x-rc or 1.1.x-rc for your release. i think i know what needs clarifying, and will propose some changes to the doc.
