As I integrate Pants into the repo I’m sharing with my collaborator I’m seeing his reactions to some of the things we take for granted, such as the proliferation of target types, and it’s making me even more convinced that in cases where 90% of users would guess that

./pants foo target

does something, then it should do that thing.
