not being able to input anything into the repl process's stdin before it starts reading from the pty was shocking cause that's like the way you initialize shells and repls in emacs, but then i got to learn about R's ability to save and reload images of its runtime environment which is crazy nice (and fast), especially orchestrated with pants. i forked the r source for a bit because i didn't know if it had the ability to easily restore from a specific image file, but in the process of finding where to change i found out how to do what i wanted, so that's a total of 0 forks so far
