unrelated to that, i wrote a

context_aware_object_factory

to populate e.g. `//:scalac`/`//:scala-runtime`/etc with a custom version of scala (e.g.

2.12.6

) (which i think i don't need now, but thought i did when i was debugging the above) and i don't know if that would be useful to upstream, it's extremely basic (just expands to exactly what you would write manually) and makes depending on a custom version of scala also very easy (paired with

--scala-version=custom

)
