i started on trying to integrate nix into pants as a package manager but i was having a ridiculous time trying to install nix as not-root so we could turn it into a pants

funnily we tried the opposite. Have a package to install pants from nix … so far it's a failure

that's interesting -- i was having a discussion with a friend of mine working on bazel, which has some ruleset using nix (but bazel expects you to control the whole environment yourself as usual, including having nix installed). the packaging from nix is interesting -- what use case was that?
