If you’re interested in Pants doing something akin to Bazel Day (on a smaller scale than Google’s), please say aye. It’d be great to hear what topics or cases would most interest you personally. If there’s enough interest, it can be made to happen.

Comparison with other build tools is definitely a fascinating topic, because it’s uncommon to have deep experience with several others. I’d love to hear a talk from someone who has spent quality time working with different build tool systems in their codebase.

I couldn't talk to most of those
but would love to hear about it 😛

Some of these potentially can be addressed in a future blog post.

Depending on the subject it is sometimes nice to have both a blog post and a video recording of a presentation

“Couldn’t talk to most of those”. So you could talk to something(s) in there?

I could talk to our move to pants 1.30 which was great but not sure people would want to hear about that considering 2.x

How recent was the move, and how challenging?
You’re definitely not the only one using 1.x. Until 2.x supports more languages, hearing about experiences with 1.x will continue to be very relevant and valuable. I’d be interested.

We started the move end of november and went live with the team begining of January
a bunch of challenges with that we solved mostly with custom plugins
Still needs to be improved for us is the intellij plugin
good things are: distributed cache
ease of use
organization setup out of the box
ie it really felt like the scala support had been used before since most of the configuration we needed was already there

That’s great to hear. I’d love to have a more substantial conversation about it. Okay to pick this up via DM?
