Hah no, the maintainers started discussing this last week

Overall: I like. Re #announce, I'm concerned it may introduce ambiguity. e.g. is it only for official communication from maintainers on behalf of the project; or is it also for announcements generally, including job openings, news from 3rd parties, etc? Depending on what the intended scope is, #releases or #official may be clearer.

Of course, the other question is how to preserve the valuable message history before consolidating, in a searchable format that the community has access to.
