Does Pants have a Please Equivalent of
genrule()
- run a command, that outputs files s part of the build (is that
experimental_shell_command
) or something else?
b
experimental_shell_command
is it, you guessed it
h
@incalculable-grass-76623 did that work for you?
i
@happy-kitchen-89482 to be honest - i have flipped over to checking out
Please
. using
genrule()
which is the Please equivalent.
experimental_shell_command
did work but the output files, i was not able to grasp entirely
b
I always thought, like Pants, please is a fun name and terrible for SEO. I stopped evaluating please when I saw it didn't have great Python support. Depending on your use case, there's always a chance another tool fits better, but we'd love to know why so we can keep improving. We value feedback a ton! What aspect of the output files was unintuitive? We can and should improve the documentation
