Does anyone have thoughts on how to debug this error:

--keep-sandboxes=on_failure

, and Pants will print out the location of the sandbox. Then you can

cd

into it and run

__run.sh

, which should reproduce the error, and you can see what info you get on the console

Thanks, this looks like a bad coursier cache (downloaded files existed but were empty in cache), a bit annoying since --no-local-cache didn't help it and I needed to manually move the cache

That is annoying! FWIW

--no-local-cache

controls use of the Pants process cache. Whereas the coursier cache is managed by coursier completely outside Pants's control.

I don't think it's totally outside pants' control, pants still orchestrates the path to the cache
