Hello! I want to use resolves, but the
generate-lockfiles
feature is quite slow. As I am still also using uv, I would like to use the uv export feature to export instead, which outputs the file in the requirements.txt format. Is that any tool out there that can convert that into a pex.json lockfile?

I feel like there was a Slack chat or a GH ticket about a prototype that someone has a script porting from uv to pex (or vice versa). For the life of my, I can't recall who wrote it - but there might be some shared movement on this

Maybe give that a shot? If it works generally, would be dope for large projects

I’ve been attempting what you’re describing and posted today in the other channel https://pantsbuild.slack.com/archives/C0D7TNJHL/p1748953177757589?thread_ts=1740089100.262379&channel=C0D7TNJHL&message_ts=1748953177.757589 Blocker is currently getting the RequiresDists info for dependencies in a performant enough manner.

I have been working (vibing) on this and I think it's very close, wondering if anyone has some early feedback. https://github.com/astral-sh/uv/pull/14469
The idea is to use the output of
pants peek ::
to create a
pyproject.toml
per resolve, and then leverage uv to lock the dependencies, and export it.
