Hi y'all, i'm trying to install a dependency

flash-attn

who's setup.py depends on

torch

. Apparently the workaround is to run with

pip install --no-build-isolation

but how would that work with pantsbuild?

You should be able to pass the same flag in

pex_binary.extra_build_args

I'm not sure I'm following, I currently have a global

python_requirements

target for the default resolve, and it fails when I run

pants generate-lockfiles

if I include

flash-attn

in the source

requirements.txt

file along the lines of "torch not found" with the stacktrace pointing to flash-attn's

setup.py

I will probably park this for now, it turns out the library is not even being used right now lol, getting these challenges socialized throughout the team will hopefully help us to keep dependency sprawl low. Thanks for the suggestions anyhow Tom!
