Basically why did changes of PR 20531 not make into any of the dev tags released yesterday?

What are you seeing that makes you say it is not included in the release?

nvm, this feature should've been in earlier dev releases as well, as the docs are there already: e.g. <https://www.pantsbuild.org/2.23/reference/global-options#enable_target_origin_sources_blocks>

Usually the release notes include the PR number hyperlinked for the changes contained in each release. This PR number was not found on any release notes, and the PR page also says that this PR is not released on any tag

Sorry about that, yea the release notes process was recently changed to make it less likely we forget to mention changes. Not sure about the PR page.. but the merged commit does have tags on it. :wink:
