The <https://github.com/pantsbuild/setup|https://github.com/pantsbuild/setup> repo has a CI job that tests pants can bootstrap on OSX and linux. We should incorporate something like this into the pants CI process or at least the release process if possible. It would have caught <https://github.com/pantsbuild/pants/pull/6816|#6816> for example.
