Hello pants community ! I'm still fresh to this ecosystem, and excited to spend some of my summer time to explore it. We are a 5 years old startup, working on a solution to extract data points from live sport videos. Our company is currently expanding quickly, therefore it becomes more and more challenging for our engineering teams to maintain and extend their own repo without compromising the whole stack. Pants seem to be a perfect fit to elegantly tackle some of our problems, so I'm happy to start building with pants !

I'm curious, how did you learn about Pants? Also what languages are you using?

thanks ! we are mainly using python and we experimented different frameworks (few of those listed in https://monorepo.tools/) to replace our existing setuptools scripts. Pants just worked, also provides functionalities out of the box that integrates nicely with our existing stack, such as support for docker builds and aws lambda.

Hello Benjy. I am part of a network automation team for a financial company. We use Nautobot, a fork of Netbox, as our source of truth and automation platform. We maintain several Nautobot plugins (which are Django apps) and a few Nornir plugins specific to our environment. We also maintain Docker images for our Nautobot deployment. We would like to consolidate all projects into a single repository and we are evaluating pants as a build system for our codebase.

Hi pants team 👋 I'm in charge of python packaging at my workplace, and introduced pex to internally distribute a CLI application we developed. We're quite happy so far, but have run into this issue https://github.com/pantsbuild/pex/issues/539 which seems to have gone stale. It's blocking us, so I wanted to ask 1) if there is still progress being made here 2) if there is a workaround you could suggest and 3) if there is a way I could help with testing or developing

Discover all the relevant dependencies, however

./pants dependencies path_to_a_specific_test.py

Doesn’t “find” all the relevant dependencies in the test file, failing it accordingly for a ModuleNotFoundError. Can/Should I manually add dependencies to a BUILD file? Thanks
