ok... so as a consumer, we can begin using the patterns as of 2970

2987 just applies the new functionality within pantsbuild/pants

but it may also address a bug or two along the way

yea... trying to decide which sha to bump to.

the bugfixes were all around pants' own test infrastructure

<@U06A03HV1>, my travis is green, can you merge <https://rbcommons.com/s/twitter/r/2979/> when you get a chance? finally nailed down all the merge issues.

Does anyone here use the combination of java8 sdk and javadoc?  Apparently with that release, makes a bunch of things that should probably be warnings errors, but can be disabled by passing `-Xdoclint:none` to the javadoc command

I'm trying to figure out if that is possible to do with pants without changing the current javadoc_gen.py / jvmdoc_gen.py stack

we've just added that option to our maven poms
