you went from 4 classpath entries to 2500 in some cases

You'd think going from a limit of 1024 -&gt; 4096 would take care of that though

I think I have a report of a stale pid file that ends up pointed at a different process after a reboot. How would people feel about changing the management code for the .pids directory so that it’s a symlink into /var/run?

From what I’ve read, it’s non-trivial to catch all stale pid cases through process inspection

This is definitely a bug we encounter every once in a while

we probably could improve our handling by checking the cmdline for the pants project directory. That would work reliably unless it moves.

But I think the symlink would be much sympler
