I believe that ^C should be propagated to all processes in the group

One common mistake is a too broad `except:` that captures and drops `KeyboardInterrupt`

<@U06A03HV1>: The `fast_relpath` knocks out the chunk we were seeing on noop compiles

We're now seeing a much more balanced call graph for noop compiles

It's mostly in that code path, but also in cache key computation and other unavoidable stuff

If we wanted to further optimize this, I think it would mostly be a matter of a more performant OrderedSet implementation

Which is something I've wanted to look into for a while

We also spend a decent amount of time cracking open zipfiles and looking at the contents

e.g. we spend 8.5% of a noop build calling `__del__` on `OrderedSet`

Which is _probably_ unnecessary most of the time

I wrote a visualization page for the pants timing stats.

<@U053HNE90>: yeah, in pants. I’m trying to thread a callback through to the subprocs that do buildcache lookup, but when I run my integration test, the process hangs. When I Ctrl-C, the subprocesses appear to still be up. It could be that both the subprocesses and the forked main are running.

Add jcohen - you may get no response, but you also may - and he would give a solid js review!

<@U053HNE90>: both the orderedset and zipfile cracking is related to computing `classes_by_target`, which will arguably not be needed in a post-global-strategy world

(bazel jvm rules just dump out jars... why do anything else?)

Yeah if we have one jar per target then classes_by_target is just walking the index of the zip anyway
