ok. so unfortunately this looks like something that was fixed between 1.30.x and 2.0.0x

My end goal is to get to 2.0.x. So maybe I should just hack on that version.

i can file it. but would be interested in discussing the priority for you… if you are able to stably move to 2.0.x, we might not backport the fix, since we’re busying preparing for the 2.0 launch

on the other hand, if it’s going to be challenging to get on 2.0.x, we can bump that one up to help

Hi, we are now using pants (1.30.0) for many projects in our monorepo 🎉 one thing that we are to figure out is how to use breakpoints set using the IDE (pycharm or vscode). Did anybody find a way to do this? (I usually use pdb)

I was able to dig into the Rules API this weekend and start making a docker image plugin 🎉, but i've run into a few issues that I might need to address: 1. Is there a way to make a

or write the docker digest URLs to an arbitrary text file just to get this to work. 2. I'd like to have a meaningful interaction between pants cachine and docker caching, but i'm really not sure how to do that. I feel like i would want pants to create a

folder of some kind and keep re-using that same folder to let the docker cache do its work but I'm not sure how to accomplish that

Also a couple of observations: • Y'all have been hitting the Rust pipe hard. It really shows in the design of the Rules API. I'm loosely into Rust, so I think this is kinda cool, but there are ways it seems a bit non-pythonic. I'll try to develop this into more concrete suggestions, but most of what I mean is having to import lots of little datatypes to use the API, when maybe having some sensible factory functions around that would be smoother. Like I said, I'll try to keep working with this and then I could make some proposals once I work through the kinks a bit more. • Having just plain-jain API docs built from the docstrings in the code would be useful. This should be as simple as telling sphinx to generate it. Y'all have put a lot of work into writing comprehensive documentation, but some of the best documentation is buried in the code and not published on the internet (at least not where I can see it easily).
