    Yes, but ... the error you're hitting also shouldn't happen. Digging in to the no targets case, which Benjy did attempt to handle in this new pipeline

    ok - responding on ticket, looks like short circuits may be needed w/o introducing a PythonInterpreter null object or otherwise doing something arbitrary like selecting the current interpreter for the no target case. I'd be happy with something semi-unsatisfying to unblock if an issue remains to track a better fix here.

    Either solution seems fine to me. PythonInterpreter null may be more convoluted to implement though.

    Fun fact: When Ivy converts a Maven .pom file to an ivy.xml file, it misinterprets dependency excludes as applying to the direct dependency itself as well as its transitive deps, whereas Maven intends it to apply only to the transitive deps (e.g., excluding 
    *
    should not exclude the direct dependency).

    Does pants supports automatic recompiling of changed projects ? I am trying to use pants daemon from 1.3 release, it seems its working however is not triggering recompilation on file changes

    but it does not "auto" recompile, in the same sense as 
    sbt ~compile
    . it just makes the next compile you run cheaper, because less file fingerprinting needs to occur.

    There was a fix to that problem, but I had to hack ivysettings.xml to fetch recent ivy jars from their CI server
